In the Interpreter Module, the digital images are prepared for evaluation using form-checking routines. For example, DIN A3 documents are digitally split up into sections before being processed by the high-performance text recognition software. The recognition software interprets the respective data fields in the digital image.
With this technology, not only markings (OMR) but also hand-written block capitals (ICR), typefaces (OCR) and barcodes are automatically interpreted. Another benefit is the electronic availability of the digital documents.
In the next step, the data generated by the interpretation phase and the digital document (Tiff image) can be forwarded for further processing. Data correction using the Verify Module is now just as practicable as direct export to a host system and/or an archiving system. In the case of unrecognised or damaged forms and barcodes, error codes and entry requests are transmitted directly to the user. Depending on the form size and data content, the Interpreter requires between 1 and 7 seconds to process each form. If the processing time must be shortened, several Interpreters can be employed in parallel.
