In conjunction with a form scanner, the Scan Moduke captures and interprets forms using document features and one- and two-dimensional barcodes. At the same time, the module supports the scanner in the processing of black/white or colour images.
Automatic recognition of all defined form content is carried out with the Interpreter Module. Highly complex image processing algorithms are responsible for the recognition of handwriting, typewritten text, line/cross markings and the automatic interpretation of text on address stickers and address stamps.
The visual checking of forms in which data is implausible or erroneous is carried out with the Verify Module. By displaying the scanned form, erroneous characters and data content can quickly be corrected. In the process, the Verify Module refers to internal or external databases.
In the final process, all data content from scanned and corrected forms is exported to various destination systems. Here, the Communications Server supports data export partly via the interfaces LDT, HL7 or ASCII.
With this module, new forms and their data fields are defined for automatic text recognition. In addition, this module supports the administration of the central database function of the ScanTools system.
In conjunction with ScanTools, the ArchiMedis archiving system offers the ideal link both to automatic data capture and to the simultaneous archiving of digitalised documents. Not only can documents be indexed automatically using barcodes, but documents names can also be supplemented manually with headwords.
Apart from being able to archive externally scanne physical documents, ArchiMedis can, using printing-layout data, also archive internally printed forms (such as results, private invoicesm Word documents etc.) which have previously been stored as images under an order number or any kind of index data.
The layout software is used for the individual layout of your OCR forms. The Document Generator has a standardised interface for the import of data from external data sources. This enables the import into the system of, for example, analyses, materials and the complex address data of clients.
On the basis of these data, the user is now in a position to design individual and automatically readable forms and at the same time to define those forms for later text recognition. Draft forms are available for printing by laser or inkjet printers. The formatting and export of Postscript files is also offered.
